Today I took a look around the web to see who in Naperville has the best website designs. I often search google to find some web design inspiration when I’ve got some site layouts to create, though I’ve never taken a look through my home city to see who has the nicest look. A quick shout out to shutter-project.org…such an awesome screen grabbing tool. Linux only though, sorry Windows and Mac users :P.
What makes a web design good? Obviously a lot of it is totally subjective, up to the eye of the beholder. But generally speaking, a cluttered design, a design that doesn’t make good use of space, a design that takes forever to load, or that looks really generic are bad news regardless of the eye doing the beholding.
I gotta say, for the most part, my search didn’t turn up a whole lot of particularly great sites. It would’ve been a lot easier to showcase bad examples of Naperville web design. What’s up Naperville?? I was shooting for 10, but only turned up 6 sites that I liked…here they are in no particular order:
So, what makes these sites examples of good web design?Naperville Limousine has a striking and clean design. It’s professional and immediately conveys class to me. On top of that, the call to action is clear and right there in my face when I visit.
Naperville Ribfest is modern and hip. They clearly spent some money on the site. The design aesthetics are pleasing with lots of contrast. While it’s a somewhat complex design, it’s not cluttered.
Hotel Arista, like Naperville Limo immediately strikes me as classy. The large header area features some nice photography, and again there’s the immediate call to action.
Naperville Park District, it’s a fun and colorful design which is perfect for a park district. There’s a lot going on, and the site makes great use of space to showcase it all without being totally overwhelming.
Naperville Magazine, this site makes great use of white space. It’s clean, crisp and professional. It’s another site that has a lot going on, but all the sections of the magazine are showcased in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the visitor.
Hugo’s Frog Bar, is a clean site without being stark. It’s fun and classy at the same time. I don’t like seafood, but their food photography actually makes it look appetizing. This is a great example of how to design a restaurant website.
Hope you enjoyed these examples of naperville web designs.
