SEO plugins for Google Chrome – Here are 3 Good Ones

I’ve got two little kids and so I’m not ashamed to admit that I spent my Friday night with Curious Georgeseo-tools cartoons on the tube for my daughter, while I sat at my computer checking out various SEO plugins for Google Chrome. Through my searching I found 3 tools worth checking out that are easy enough to use and understand for even a novice SEO-er.

SEO SERP Workbench

Selection_110I’ve been on the lookout for a decent Keyword ranking tool and I think I found one I like in SEO SERP Workbench. I found the interface a little clunky, but the end result was worth sticking with it. You start off by searching for your own site in whatever search engine you’re checking rankings on…for me it was Google.com of course. Then when you find your site in the SERPs, you add your site to the site list. Then you can start searching for a bunch of other keywords you want to check rankings on and away you go. It keeps a running tally of the keywords and rankings. Nice! It’s not much to look at, but this can be an invaluable tool for keeping an eye on your rankings. Add the SEO SERP Workbench app.

SEOrch Onpage SEO Tool

www.seorch.eu-index.html_113Not really a plugin, which generally annoys me, but this one is worth a look anyway. It takes you to a site (seorch.eu) where you can enter in the domain name you want to analyze and optionally allows you to check a keyword against the page. Once you submit the info, it does a quick analysis of the page and gives you a pretty good size report on what it finds. I’d say my only real argument on this tool is that it doesn’t provide a whole lot of info on what some of these reported items mean. While I’ve got a pretty firm grasp on SEO, onpage SEO in particular, others may not. For instance, the tool checks for Google Authorship but provides no information on what to do if the report shows you coming up empty. I would think a simple link to Google’s Authorship page would be extremely helpful to the average user  (and so here it is: https://plus.google.com/authorship). Otherwise, this gives you a really nice insight into your onpage optimization and even goes into some of the off page stuff including social engagment (though the numbers it provides there are definitely only a small segment). Add the SEOrch Onpage SEO Tool.

SEO Competitor Analysis Tool

Selection_111This is another one that just pulls up a website. But, again, not gonna dismiss it because of that. This is a great tool for finding out why your competitors website is ranking higher than yours. Simple to use, just enter your url, your competitors url and the keyword/phrase that you want to compare on and away it goes. What you get in return is a side by side comparison of what you and your competitor are doing right/wrong. It’s not particularly in-depth, but it will provide some valuable insight to your onpage SEO, including the speed of your site and proper usage of tags and redirects. Add the SEO Competitor Analysis Tool.

Hope your Friday night is more exciting than mine! Happy SEO-ing :)
